If someone wants to offer support other than us, that is OK, but this project does not have the developer resources to support every conceivable sound card which is what this would entail. There was a real good reason to limit support to 1 or 2 radio interfaces! The radio interface hardware could then be controlled as a known quantity. This has been our philosophy since the project began. Supporing the IRLP board is not a simple prospect. The IRLP board is not the only peice of the puzzle. The IRLP board depends on a sound card, and this sound card can be anything. Although sound cards and IRLP interfaces are what folks have, and these folks don't want to invest in a whole new radio interface due to the added costs, the developers feel that this is too much of a burden on them and therefore have no inclination to open up support for every sound card out there. usbradio similar driver with non usb sound cards?

Is it at all reasonable or worthwhile to even *think* I could write an alternate driver like usbradio but that uses some kind of 'generic' audio driver that outputs and captures audio from just about any 'common' PCI or ISA type sound card via it's normal linux driver.. and route radio PTT to something like a pin on a serial or parallel port?? I've been doing this for quite sometime with the Linux soundcard packet radio drivers where it almost doesn't matter what sound card you have installed it works.. Was just wondering if this is possible.. and if it may be a worthwhile project for me to eventually take on.. And what the good and bad may be in doing so. Is all the work that has been done on the cm108 driver so specific to the cm108 that it could not be easily applied to another sound device? Or is this rather simple and I should get to work on it? Thanks for entertaining my curiosity... I also thought that might be a really good learning project for me to do and learn how to do it... also why or why it may not be a good idea. Thanks! Something hosed up again

I stopped and restared asterisk, and no more radio functions. Get this error: [Dec 6 15:01:27] ERROR[27267] codec_dahdi.c: Failed to open /dev/zap/transcode: No such file or directory radio and rpt functions not there... I tried to force that device to load by inserting the module, but no go. Is app_rpt zaptel usbradio and all supported or expected to work/not work on a 64bit Linux installation? Is it expected to work / not work? I tried it just for fun and have not been able to get it to compile. I need to know if I should be completely avoiding 64bit Linux or if I should also be trying it out there as well. Thanks! Odd-Splits in App_rpt

Thanks for the heads up, Steve. Since app_rpt only seems to send offset direction to the G707, it must rely on the G707 to know what the offset is. I'm betting I can change the offset in the VHF band directly in the radio, and that will be a workable solution for one of the repeaters until the natural evolution of the application catches up. Odd Splits for Remotes and Memory Channels

Hello Group... More probing questions for my config files: I was reading through the rpt.conf.sample file I found, and while the memory usage for the TM-G707 remote that Jim NIL gave me was logical, I didn't see any examples of odd-split repeaters being used. Which, brings up my two-part question: Can non-standard split repeaters be loaded into the rpt.conf file? or, in the alternative: Can the G707 be commanded into its own memory mode, and a memory channel be selected to operate? The reason behind this is that I am trying to craft a macro which, when enabled for specific users, would allow the user to transmit and receive to a VHF MARS repeater. One with a very wide (+4 MHz) split. Any thoughts? compile configs and config files

Has anyone ever looked into what features in the configs (make menuselect) can be turned off and still have a fully functional repeater/remote base? The names of the applications are somewhat mysterious. I just know there's more stuff compiled in than I use. Some of the PBX type stuff, etc, need to be there? Thanks, everyone.
