RTCM audio interfacing options

Greetings, I've been playing with RTCMs and VOTER boards for almost 5 years now, and I'm very happy with what I have in service. I've built a multi-site voted system, and more recently a non-voted hub that ties together repeater controllers at a few sites. I'm helping a friend but together a RTCM / pair of GM300 repeater, and got to thinking about audio options. There is more than one right way! 1. Discriminator audio to RTCM, set deemp=yes in voter.conf (causes hardware de-emphasis in RTCM circuitry) RTCM TX audio to GM300 Flat audio input, use chan_voter software preemphasis by specifying txctcss and txctcsslevel=0 in rpt.conf 2. 1. Discriminator audio to RTCM, set deemp=yes in voter.conf (causes hardware de-emphasis in RTCM circuitry) RTCM TX audio to mic audio, letting radio do pre-emphasis. 3. 1.De-emphased audio from GM300 (JU551 set to B) RTCM RTCM TX audio to mic audio, letting radio do pre-emphasis. 4. 1.De-emphased audio from GM300 (JU551 set to B) RTCM RTCM TX audio to Flat audio input, use chan_voter software preemphasis by specifying txctcss and txctcsslevel=0 in rpt.conf All four of these combinations should theoretically produce "flat" system response, but I'm sure all four yield slightly different results, given different corner frequencies in hardware/software de-emphasis / pre-emphasis and different input/output impedance combinations. And now for something completely different* Announcing the AllStarLink Site Monitor (ASM) Today I’m announcing the availability of a new system for monitoring the health of repeater and remote sites. The system consists of: * Arduino Nano based data acquisition with both hardware and software, and * RaspberryPi based software which interfaces with AllStarLink (on an existing or new node). Features of the system include sensing: * ·Voltages(4x 0-19.8VDC) * ·Temperature * ·Discrete inputs (4x open/gnd) * ·Discrete outputs (4x open/gnd) Access to these features can be via: * ·SSH to your RPi or * ·DTMF commands over-the-air. Either access method will trigger a response in voice over-the-air. The response can be played either locally or globally (set in config file). The voltages are played with voice labels like “solar output”, “battery” or make your own with TTS. Inputs status labels like “door open” make immediate sense to the operator. The asm.conf file contains pointers to the .gsm files. A separate web forum has been established as I’ve no intention of hijacking the existing list for Site Monitor questions.https://groups.io/g/ASLSiteMon Some files are already there, including photos and a User’s Manual (currently a 350K PDF that needs more work). The Plan A limited number of kits will be available in this first build (~30 kits after Jan 23). All SMD devices are assembled on a new Pick-n-Place machine and oven soldered. Through-hole connectors are NOT installed. A limited number of Nano boards and USB cables are available. In the future a completely assembled unit *MAY* be offered. As I’m still working on this and other projects, I’m unable to devote the effort to being a parts distributor and hand soldering tech. Your understanding is appreciated. Feedback from the first batch of boards will influence the incremental design of a follow-up. In fact, several good suggestions have already been received from beta testers. In 4-6 weeks, kits will be available from stock. Kits are reasonably priced as this need not be a huge commercial success. Consider that proceeds fund future development, new projects and support our local club station. Software for both the RPi and the Nano will be made available for non-commercial use. It is my hope that users will want to add features and enhancements. Surely other well qualified folks will be interested in developing the code further. strangle garbling on second node

I have my nodes 27821 and 28739, they use to run on an old P4. The nodes are on UsbRadio and the levels have been adjusted on with an IFR1500 so they are inline. I switched computer yesterday and now I use a Proliant G5P computer on Stretch. Got some help to make it run but all seem prety well. I also run chan_echolink with chan_usbradio. the drive is aN SSD, got 8 gig of ram and the cpu is an 8 core xeon at 2.2 ghz. I also use the Raid controler to have a 1 TB raid 1 array. If I run the GUI ( Mate) or only CLI ( init level 3) it still the same. I switched usb cable. I used iaxrpt to connect to both repeater and I got that in the log of asterisk: WARNING[9017]: chan_iax2.c:921 jb_warning_output: Resyncing the jb. last_delay -98, this delay 2918, threshold 1164, new offset -2918 and we receive a lot of hungup message for only one short ptt: -- Hungup 'DAHDI/pseudo-1302878576' -- Hungup 'DAHDI/pseudo-1313783111' -- Hungup 'DAHDI/pseudo-1265694909' -- Hungup 'DAHDI/pseudo-1223961614' -- Hungup 'DAHDI/pseudo-1745973833' -- Hungup 'DAHDI/pseudo-311499195' -- Hungup 'DAHDI/pseudo-1573868247' -- Hungup 'DAHDI/pseudo-56935586' -- Hungup 'DAHDI/pseudo-267958833' -- Hungup 'DAHDI/pseudo-580580533' -- Hungup 'DAHDI/pseudo-1976922523' Even with an echolink connection there are multiple Hungup 'DAHDI/pseudo messages in the log for only one tx. Anyone can help?

SimpleUSB squelch-tail delay

We use RF links back to a Hall audio voter. Unkeying the mobile allows a short noise burst to come through as the link keying drops as fast as possible to prevent the voter from voting on "full quieting" dead carrier. Is there a way to delay the audio maybe 100 mS to allow the COR to mute the transmitter? Thanks, Duane KA1LM 42996

Stats server update

The Allstar Link admin team is pleased to announce the successful migration of the stats server. The old stats server was severely overloaded and has been migrated to a new much faster, and better connected machine. We've added some speedups/fixes to the code and have enabled the big network wide map now and is updated every 3 minutes. We bought a newer G7 HP DL360 server with 12 cores, 128 gb ram, and 880g of 15k SAS raid 50. https://i.imgur.com/Lx6Ul8E.jpg We've racked it at one of the premier east coast data centers, and running on our own IP space. Simply put, we should see much higher availability and have power for adding new features. http://stats.allstarlink.org/ is now at 44.98.254.130, and the old server is at http://stats-old.allstarlink.org/ Check the old server, as there are still 13 nodes pointed at it. If you see one of your nodes in that list, this means you're not using DNS and have the IP hardcoded in rpt.conf or /etc/hosts. Command to execute external script?

Registration issue

I need a refresher. If I add a second URI / node # to an existing node, do I have to put the second node on another port other than the default 4569? Or can the both be on the same port as long as they are on the same box? Also, I see that the node 27877 is registered and active when I perform an IAX2 show registry but when I look on the status page (stats.allstarlinkg.org) it does not show up. I have it 24 hours and it still is not showing up. So to summarize, the current node that has been and still is working is 27870, and adding 27877 to the same box, I can’t seem to get it to show up on the status page but yet it shows registered on the same box. Usb ports

HiMy son and i built a node out of an old Dell computer. The node works if you link to it through ecco link. However the Usb ports don't seem to work.We seem to get no audio out of usb port to radio. The Debian software see the usb ports all 4 but something is set wrong someplace. We tryed everything we can find online and nothing works. Some ting we found online our software doesn't weem to have. It you run a speaker test we get sound out of the onboard speakers in the computer. Not sure we should be getting sound there. Any suggestions as to where to look and what file to configure, and how to configure it?Thanks DaveAB3MZ
