Doug, The BeagleBone Black that I ordered from one of the vendors on your page states that it is version C, and is run under Debian. Help for a green to the gills new user…….

I am a hardware guy, through and through. I can figure out how to send an email (duh!) and that about sums up my computer knowledge. I have tried to install ACID on numerous previous occasions, but I am obviously doing something wrong. It will, and has, gotten to various parts of the install process, and just plain quit. Sometimes, to the point it won't even boot, sometimes to a log in prompt. When it completes to the login, I hit a brick wall, because, even though the getting started PDF is well written, it assumes some level of *nix ability, which I have zero. Sadly, I have little patience for new computer things. Should I be pursuing other projects, as opposed to raising my stress level fighting with Allstar? From reading the posts, I keep getting the feeling that this is too far over my head..... Any advice is appreciated...... Brian KE6IYC

BeagleBone Black Allstar Official Release

Hello and welcome to the first public release of Allstar on the BeagleBone Black. This represents months of trial and error testing which first started with the Raspberry Pi back at the beginning of the year and was finally successful on the BBB platform. We have had several beta versions out now for over two months with many testers and we had very good reports. There is more to be done but this is a working system that will allow many to get rid of their energy consuming PC's with constantly running hard drives and have an Allstar system that fits in the palm of your hand. The web page I have created gives very detailed instructions on how to download, install, and configure your BBB for use with Allstar. The web page is: hamvoip.org There you will find a link to download the image and also to join the arm-allstar email list. Please try to address questions specific to the BBB and Allstar to the arm-allstar list and not the apt-rpt list. While the code is the current Acid release there are many differences in how things are done on the BBB and the OS we are using, Arch Linux, is much different than Centos or Debian. QUESTION on making a receive only node

Hello all we would like to extend our repeater receive area by putting in a receive site but with a different PL tone . we have an area that we lose HT coverage but can hear it fine from the main tx of the repeater site. . Could i just buy a USB FOB CM108 and not mod it and just plug in the speaker from the radio into the Mic of the dongle? Thanks for your help
