RTCM/VOTER Squelch/Firmware Question

I am in the process of deploying my first of a few VOTER (through hole) boards in the conversion of one of my local repeater to add voting. My master receiver with transmit is running on an ICOM FR5000, using discriminator out, carrier squelch (no PL), with a VOTER (of course). I've got a couple questions that hopefully someone can answer for me. 1) I've noticed with the default (v1.50) firmware running, I am getting nasty squelch crashes when a user un-keys. Watching it in Allmon2, there looks like there is a LOT of flutter on the signals, going from near 255 all the way down to the hundreds. The flutter seems to be co-incident with voice peaks. Looking in the source code, this appears it should have been fixed... yet I still see the artifacts? The squelch crash seems to be co-incident with the RSSI dropping near 0 when the user un-keys. Which would be fine for the 2-level squelch action, if it were true... but the users seem to have a strong signal otherwise. 2) Would DSPBEW help with this? Anyone running an FR5000 want to comment on their configuration? 3) I've compiled and loaded "Chuck Squelch" on it, and it is definitely an improvement. We'll see if I like the change. Related to that, do I need to do the diode/squelch calibration routines every time I re-flash the firmware, or will those settings be retained in EEPROM (and would they be the same between the different firmware)? So far I am liking the opportunities this change from a hardware controller is enabling. Scheduler Debugging?

Is there a way to debug the scheduler and see what it's state is? I can't find any debugging commands. I have a very simple configuration setup to play an announcement with macro 10 and it works via testing it as *510 in the cli, but it does not work via scheduler. Anyone have any ideas? Hi Joe, Copying the list so they see your update/questions. As for votemond/votermon, yes, go with Allmon2. David, I do have the nodes connected together. The only difference is the name of the functions stanza. Appears that something may be broken, I noticed that my nodes list hasn't been updated since the 26th and when running the command manually to update, it's not returning anything. I tried both nodes1 and nodes3. Anyone else having the same issue? Jim, K6JWN Node 2165

Is there a way to connect a SIP phone/client (in bound calls) to my Allstar node to be able to talk on the Allstar node? I got Zoiper to work OK on my smartphone, but it's IAX. I couldn't find much online about setting up the conf files fir SIP. Thanks, Greg KD3SU

audio for direct VCO FM

Gurus, What are the limitations with audio-driving a 50MHz FM Transmit VCO directly? Sorry that's a really open-ended question. I suppose it will vary per each chan_ driver as well, as well as the emphasis settings and so on. So dealing with the issues of emphasis, compression, (audio)bandwidth limiting and so on - how much can be taken out of the radio and handled by the chan_ drivers, and how different are they each? It was suggested elsewhere, that everything over 12KHz be not permitted anywhere near an FM modulator stage, but how much does that actually happen with the CM119 chipset? I ask because on a transmit-only site, there hardly seems to be any point to having a "transceiver" there at all, when a clock generator, buffer, PA, and filtering, is a fairly simple unit. Iax rpt no audio

I upgraded to the new version of iax rpt for android. I didn't touch anything other than upgrading my software. I now have no TX audio. Just to make sure I wasn't crazy I checked around using other radios and methods and I definitely do not have tx audio. Anyone else experience this? I know the US is a huge place, but geez the freight companies have really nailed their market down tightly. Will ask on facebook about freight. Someone might have a few options. Steve
