Not to cause issues, but newer computers have better than older sound cards in them. Any reason why they cannot be made to work other than using sound FOBs? Also, if I were to compile my own version of asterisk tailored to allstar, where is the source and other SVN files? ~Benjamin, KB9LFZ allstar node 28569

Re: [App_rpt-users] Lat Long update

Thanks for the tip about the shield Gary. That got me farther than ever before. I can now see the map, double clicking drills down to the right place in my yard. But I never get coordinates and still can't put them in by hand. (Chrome in Linux) BTW: The gps.conf file appears to only be for APRS and has never made any change to the web site for me. If your using Chrome, on the right, you should see a little "Shield" to the left of the favorites star, just click it and select "load unsafe script" cid:image001.png@01CEEF9B.A60B70A0 Gary KB2BSL

Update call sign associated with AllStarLink Portal
by Robert Pectol - AH2S 03 Dec '13

03 Dec '13

Just wondering if anyone knows how to update my AllStarLink Portal with my new call sign. It allows me to change the call signs associated with my servers, nodes, etc. but not the portal itself. Thanks. -- Rob - AH2S Node 2147

Lat Long update
by Doug Crompton 03 Dec '13

03 Dec '13

How does one manually update the lat/long on the server page at allstarlink.org? It will not accept manual input of numbers and forces you to use the map which has never worked for me. 73 Doug WA3DSP http://www.crompton.com/hamradio

Re: [App_rpt-users] How to set MAC address on Beagleboard xM with Pickle Linux?
by Bob 02 Dec '13

Thought I had it... worked for awhile, then all of a sudden it changed IP addresses on me again (sigh!) Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob KK6ECM -----Original Message----- From: Bob [mailto:kk6ecm@gmail.com] Sent: Sunday, December 01, 2013 9:31 AM To: 'app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org' Subject: RE:[App_rpt-users] How to set MAC address on Beagleboard xM with Pickle Linux? OK... found it and I figured it out. Edited /etc/network/interfaces ADDED the following at the end of the file: hwaddress ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx After rebooting, the "permanent" MAC address is on the card, so it now acts as a hardware MAC on bootup. Saved the SD card image as my new baseline backup for Pickle should I mess something up :-) Now I can set a static address in my router for the Beagleboard-xM. Still learning as I go Thanks, Bob KK6ECM -----Original Message----- Date: Sat, 30 Nov 2013 21:28:00 -0800 From: kk6ecm <kk6ecm(a)gmail.com> To: "app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org" <app_rpt-users(a)ohnosec.org> Subject: [App_rpt-users] How to set MAC address on Beagleboard xM with Pickle Linux? The Beagleboard xM MAC address is generated each time it boots to a random configuration. Thanks, Bob KK6ECM

I have one, and installed it in /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/rpt/nodenames, but I had found a bunch o nodes already in there. How did they get there? does the software update, and then down load/up load new files? and will my upload the file to all other nodes so they here it aswell?, or is that another email all togather? Spontaneous disconnects, disappearing nodes...
by Jah Rastafari 01 Dec '13

01 Dec '13

Connection is rock-solid and I've rebooted dozens of times (and I'm familiar with all the usual pitfalls on the local end (node's been up for several years). I'm 95% certain this is further down the line and I've spoken to at least 3 other users who are experiencing the same behavior (including, as I mentioned, inexplicable disconnects out of the blue) -Bob KK6RQ #27268 ps. As of 20 min ago, it started working (nothing in the router log)
