Roger I disconnected it. Your node was the source of the dead key. Do you have an ARIB card hooked up and/or a phone off hook on the receive port? Steve. Roger F. [App_rpt] configurable system state
by Mark Hagler 10 Nov '07

I see in the code there's two control op commands to affect the system state: * 13 - Query System State * 14 - Change System State Is there an example rpt.conf floating around that shows how to set up multiple system states that could be selected with this command? Thanks, Mark

Posting your extensions.conf would be especially helpful. Steve. Roger F. [App_rpt] Dial plan / Asterisk Config file issue! (or it could just be me!!)
by Roger F. Jordan 06 Nov '07

06 Nov '07

Hi, I have been playing and reading about the dial plan within asterisk and have come to a brick wall... Let me explain... I have two phones simulating the repeater... one off hook (the Receiver of the repeater! ZAP/1) and one on hook (the Transmitter ZAP/2). I also have two other phones set up as extensions 1000 (Zap/3) and 2000 (Zap/4) I can dial from the repeater to extensions 1000 and 2000 and from 1000 to 2000 or 2000 to 1000... But I can not seem to figure out how to set up the configuration files to dial from 1000 or 2000 to the repeater... If some one would be so kind as to share with me some configuration files I can analyze and try... I will send my configuration files upon request... I am not including them here due to my own possible embarrassment! Thanks in advance... Roger W4RFJ

Steve, See below. >If you are getting receive audio through all of the op-amps, then it has >to be a receive audio level problem. During that time the audio was not adjusted, I was playing around withe the permissions. If you hear audio then that is good, I didn't think audio was passing through the system from from the transmit from another radio or maybe it was from the connect command? >Also, did you follow the audio level adjustment procedure and set the >transmit audio to 3 KHz deviation followed by setting the receive audio >with a 1 khz signal source so that you get 3KHz of deviaton on the >output, per the instructions? Using voice or touch tones will result in >the levels being set incorrectly. Well yes and no. I did read the procedures, I have a ham friend with a signal generator thats coming over when he have the time to induce the required signals on the receive circuit. But in the mean time I have a 1kh wav file signal on my other linux box that I can induce the signal in the receive circuit. This is how I tested the milivolts on the op-amps IC, U1B and U1C >This all beings up another question. Are you trying to adjust levels >without using instrumentation such as a signal generator, service >monitor, or deviation meter? It is really difficult to get the system >adjusted without this instrumentation by an inexperienced user. I can do >it by ear, but it isn't as good as when I do it with instrumentation. Yes, I do remeber the talk on the audio adjustment and will not connect to any other node until I get the audio right. I do have an ocilliscope and the Ham friend have the a signal generator right now I have some time to work on it but the ham schedule is quite different and we have to get together when time permits. >If you don't have instrumentation, I would try doing the following: Call >into app_rpt using the reverse autopatch feature (you will need to set >this up in extensions.conf). That makes it very >difficult for to set levels. I'am trying two different radio/controller configurations. I will shorlty move the repeater off the commom repeater controller then on to the ARIB as the full duplex repeater controller, duplex=2, then take another connections to the common controller to control it from asterisk using duplex=0, which have 3 other radio ports plus a RS232 port hopefully for 2m agile operations. Yeah, I know it's the long way around but I have the equipment on hand and I might as well put it to work. I do appreciated all your help and having lots of fun tinkering. Will / W4WWM

Steve, The below note is from the our last post troubleshooting the ARIB/Asterisk-app_rpt for no receive audio. >>Download the ARIB schematic from zapatatelephony.org and check all the >>op-amp outputs in the receive audio chain for audio with a scope. Maybe >>you are missing the NO TS-64 jumper? Finally got around to do some more testing on the ARIB. I've tested the output of the op-amps and they are working. The op-amp U1B on pin 7 output is 241 milivolts and U1C output on pin 8 is 225 milivolts. This is my adjustment from R8, the RX gain pot for now. The audio signal is present in the receive chain. Also the NO TS-64 jumper is in place. When I try to send dtmf sig's app_rpt/asterisk do not respond on any of the local or remote commands. Also on the command line and its excecution, with duplex=0 in the config file, I get not audio or ptt response but i do get the screen action. When I change duplex=1 or 3, I get audio and ptt to the repeater. In other words the transmit from the ARIB card is working but not the receive sig that pass through the ARIB to asterisk for processing. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Will / W4WWM
