Alternate port

I would like to run two servers on my NATed network. One will be on the default port 4569. My question is what's a good port for the other server? And what configuration changes are needed to run on an alternate port? -- Tim :wq

IAXRPT Settings

Ok, I'm stumped. I put the configs in from: http://209.159.155.200/drupal/node/58 I downloaded the IAXRPT program, and under Accounts, I filled in the Account Name, Description, Host, Password. When I connect, nothing shows up in the console, except for when I save the account settings. [Feb 9 06:26:01] NOTICE[3819]: chan_iax2.c:6809 register_verify: Empty registration from 192.168.1.125 iaxRPT shows State as "-?-" I can find the documentation for the config files, but not much for the settings to use on iaxRPT for Allstar. I even rooted through the last year of archive posts. Any suggestions? -- KI6PSP (Ed)

Ok all I figured out the issue... don't ask N0MIJ to make up his own interface cable. :)) Without bringing in a working one I would have continued to overlook the problem. So I appreciate all the help. Now the question I'm researching is where can I find a guide to connecting to other nodes and such. Node Backup documented

There are two ways to easily backup Asterisk nodes; 1. Copy files to your PC, using freeware applications like WinSCP , or 2. Backup to the AllStar portal. WinSCP can quickly and easily copy all the /etc/asterisk files to your PC. WinSCP works a lot like any other Windows program, and instructions can be found on the WinSCP website. The AllStar portal backup method has the advantage of being offsite, on a server, which could be accessed by the primary and backup administrators for a club or repeater association. The setup and operation of that method follows: SETUP 1. Logon to the Allstar website with your callsign and website password. 2. From the menu at the top, select 'Node' and then 'Node Configuration' 3. Select the appropriate server 4. Select any node from that server 5. The AllStar Node Configuration page will show you -node number -status of the node (hopefully 'active') and -the eight digit node password. Copy the node number and node password. 6. Log off the AllStar site. 7. Use WinSCP, or any other program to access the server. 8. Goto the /etc/asterisk directory 9. Edit the 'savenode.conf' file with the information you copied from the AllStar site. A typical savenode.conf file looks like; # config file for /usr/local/bin/savenode NODE=xxxxx PASSWORD=yyyyyy ENABLE=1 Where: xxxxx is the four or five digit node number. yyyyyyyy is the eight digit password from the AllStar site If you comment the file, expect errors when setup.sh is run. It still seems to run, but you will see error messages 10. Restart Asterisk to ensure it reads the new files. USAGE 1. Log onto the node as the root administrator. 2. At the Linux prompt (#) 3. Enter the command 'savenode.sh' The console output will be similar to: [root@AST_27465_BAL ~]# savenode.sh Saving Asterisk node configuration to register.allstarlink.org File transfer successful and file verified On a multi node server, the information for all nodes is transferred to AllStar by this one operation. Hi all, I've gotten my (N2OYJ) system up and functioning in a simple mode so I can have access to the local repeater from the computer room. A friend and I are trying to set up another unit for something similar. Using XIPAR as the base, a URI and either a CDM750 or GM300 as the radio it attached to. There appears to be an issue I haven't yet found. Using the working configuration from my system as a starting point, the 'radio tune rxnoise' returns the error as if there is no signal on the flat audio pin (PIN 11). This occurs on BOTH radios. The next step is to bring the working radio/URI combination to the non-working system and see it the error remains, then switch URI's;all to try and isolate the problem. Q: Is there a way to test the URI? Either using a signal generator or not using a generator (both was might be good for others). Rod N2OYJ

Send the request to admin(a)allstarlink.org. Include all affected node numbers and user accounts. This has to be done at the administrator level. Is it possible to transfer a Portal server and associated nodes to an other user account on the portal? If not, then I guess a new server and new node numbers will have to be created from the new account and the node numbers changed on the actual box. I would like to transfer ownership of a portal server and 2 nodes to another account. Thanks, Jon VA3RQ
