Hey y'all, I confuse easily. I want to try running COS and PTT from parallel port, much cleaner than microsurgery on the USB fob, did one - wasn't too bad. But the radios I use all have COS and/or PL decode outs. And the USB squelch is still a bit "odd". But the parallel port interface would make it plug compatible (I think) with my currently deployed DRIL system nailed up from here in TX to my folks home in NJ(They're hams too). I see the documentation: http://ohnosec.org/drupal/node/177 "Manipulating GPIO (and Parallel Printer Port) signals within chan_usbradio and chan_simpleusb" But I'm not fully certain of how to implement this. I'm using version 0.273. Unsure of the meaning of this, exactly: "(from within the section of usbradio.conf that is for the desired device):" In a typical simpleusb.conf where exactly does it go, or better yet, can someone send a sample of a working config file? I have not been able to locate a sample that explains this. I know I need to change "rxchannel=Radio/usb2360" (or 2428 for my remote) in rpt.conf. I have an example of simpleusb.conf. I see under [general] there is [usb]. would that [usb] change to [usb2360]? Then the stuff like: pp2 = out1 ; out0, out1 or ptt pp10 = in ; in, cor or ctcss goes under the [usb2360]??? Last dumb question, does the simpleusb work with the Limey Linux distro, that is an outstanding way to make a system with (almost) no moving parts. I use D945GLLY boards. HALP! I wanted to fiddle with this over the long weekend. I plan on replacing the DRIL link to NJ with a pair of app_rpt systems. The far end in NJ will probably be an "unlisted" node, maybe not... I am totally impressed with what has been done with asterisk here, and have possible made another convert here in Austin and maybe another in the Toronto area. I'd love to get it to run on my Sheeva Plug computer, but haven't yet fiddled with compiling a kernel and initrd on that one yet. Enough for now, goodnight to all. Anyone compiling asterisk from sources on Debian.

I'm getting started on a project that will ultimately use asterisk/app_rpt to handle a repeater linking system in a fairly complex set-up. For the moment I have a simple proof-of-concept project before me, but because it's ultimately going to be a big, non-allstarlink project I really don't want to use ACID or anything other pre-packaged system that's meant to be turn-key for a simple set-up. I'm much more familiar with Debian-based systems than with Fedora/RH/CentOS systems, and so I would rather use that as the base. I've got Debian Squeeze (the current stable system) installed on an otherwise empty machine, have pulled the files.tar.gz file from the place where ACID's installer would have downloaded it, and have installed all the dependencies (libraries, dev packages for them, kernel headers, etc.). But right now I'm encountering Issues building the Zaptel kernel module that I don't quite get. Is anyone here using the app_rpt sources of Asterisk on a Debian system who might be able to help me diagnose what's going wrong with my build? The short story is that the zaptel kernel module build is behaving very much like it's not getting the kernel headers right, even though the correct headers for the kernel are installed. It doesn't complain about not finding specific files, though, it's merely dying during compilation of pciradio.c with undefined macros that are definitely present in kernel headers that it should have found. I don't want to burden the list with details unless there is interest in the solution, though. Hi Group: My XYL also an amateur radio operator has registered for the allstar network several times and has not received any confirmation of registration, (last time about a week ago). Situation: A new installation of ACID on your basic 2.4 GHz PC (an IBM Netvista if it matters) with a DMK USB URI fob connected to an Alinco DR135 radio. Everything works great for some number of hours (anywhere from 6 to 18) ... Until it stops working and the following errors crop up in /var/log/asterisk/messages: [Feb 27 17:17:37] ERROR[3464] chan_usbradio.c: HID process has died or something!! [Feb 27 17:46:42] WARNING[3461] app_rpt.c: rpt_thread restarted on node 27680 [Feb 27 17:46:46] ERROR[14747] chan_usbradio.c: HID process has died or something!! [Feb 27 17:52:00] WARNING[3461] app_rpt.c: rpt_thread restarted on node 27680 [Feb 27 17:52:00] WARNING[14770] chan_usbradio.c: Possibly stuck USB read channel. [usb27680] [Feb 27 17:52:04] ERROR[14770] chan_usbradio.c: HID process has died or something!! [Feb 27 17:56:19] WARNING[3461] app_rpt.c: rpt_thread restarted on node 27680 [Feb 27 17:56:23] ERROR[14795] chan_usbradio.c: HID process has died or something!! ... and the radio/asterisk/app_rpt stops responding to DTMF commands. When it gets into this state, rebooting fixes it. I believe most times in this state asterisk is hung, e.g., won't die from a kill or a kill -HUP, so something like "service asterisk restart" hangs. The only other USB device is a keyboard. chan_usbradio appears to be revision 535 app_rpt appears to be version 0.273 This is from an ACID install image downloaded and installed about 1.5 weeks ago. Unable to connect to AllStar

I'm having a problem with a new server not connecting to Allstar. SSH is working. I can ping Google, both by IP and name, so DNS is ok. The router port for SSH TCP port is open and pointing to this server. Port 4569 UDP is open and pointing to this server. However, the nscheck.sh script shows Allstar servers 1 and 2 down, and then hangs until I press ^C. I can ping the Allstar servers, so I know they are there. Savenode.sh also fails to run properly. I haven't implemented any firewalls, or modified the stock configuration beyond the /etc/asterisk directory. Any suggestions on what I've missed? VE3GIH Gord Hewit 416-779-3740 (mobile)
