I'm curious about chan_simpleusb. Can it be used on a slower PC to improve performance? I'm running 2 CM108 fobs here on a P3/866 MHz with 512MB ram. This was my old EchoIRLP node PC, and it seems to work ok for Allstar, but I realize that it's below the recommended CPU speed for a USB fob node. My node radios have PL encode/decode in hardware, etc, so would I lose any functionality by switching to chan_simpleusb? Hi there. Apologies if this question is in the list archives* somewhere. Does anyone have any experience with running app_rpt on the Beagleboard? In particular, has anyone managed to get it to work with the DMK Engineering URI USB dongle? I saw from the app_rpt FAQ that a faster machine ("CPU speed no less than 1.2 GHz") is recommended for use with the URI USB The Beagleboard-XM runs at 1.0 GHz. I'd be very interested in any field experience, or rationale as to why it is or isn't likely to work. Thanks! I have successfully setup an allstar node running a Debian kernel. I have also written a script to make the process easier if anyone else is interested. This is compiled and working an an ALIX 3d embedded board (500Mhz/512Mb RAM). Thank you to all who responded to this thread yesterday. I'm already backing up my files to my home PC, but if I'm unavailable (vacation, illness, SK), then someone else in the club should be able to take over. That's why savenode.sh seems like such as useful tool, if I could just get it to work :-) The command I'm using is: [root@AST_27465_BAL ~]# savenode.sh Saving Asterisk node configuration to register.allstarlink.org Error in transfer The /etc/asterisk/savenode.conf file is now: # config file for /usr/local/bin/savenode NODE=27465 ;Allstar Node number of the first repeater on this server PASSWORD=xxxxxxxx ;Same password as Alstar account VE3GIH ENABLE=1 When I examine the /usr/local/bin directory, the 'ls' command doesn't show any savenode file. It only shows 'zsync' and 'zsyncmake'. I have recently logged into the Allstar server, and confirmed my account, password and the fact that I'm registered as a sysop for this node.. Does anyone else have savenode.sh working? Suggestions or ideas welcomed. Remote access to node fails

New node setup using Allstarlink portal download. Behind NAT on private network. All necessary ports (udp/tcp) forwarded to server IP (4569, 5004-5082, 10000-20000) DNS redirect available (w5bi.no-ip.org) 1st problem - AllstarLink Web Transceiver on separate PC on LAN will not connect to my node (works to other nodes) 2nd problem - iaxRpt works on LAN but not from outside. Am I trying something impossible? Pointing to my public IP or w5bi.no-ip.org does not work. 3rd problem - WinSCP works fine on LAN but not from outside. Same question as iaxRpt - possible? Jeese... Always something simple. I had a "+" in my portal password and that does not work at the node/servers. OK I've obviously lost it here :-) But please help: I am trying to bring up a new box (ACID) on a PC and attempting my first ever configuration via portal ever. Thought I'd try this for fun all my others have been manual config and that was 6 months ago. I'm trying to get a feel and familiarity with the new system. Which so far looks absolutely awasome!! wow a LOT of work as gone on while I was away! Of course I have alreadey setup a server and a node and the node is *not* set for manual configuration. When I try to run the Allstar Portal Node Setup Script I am being told quite plainly that I'm suplying incorrect credentials. ------ Enter your Allstar Portal user id: n8lbv Enter your Allstar Portal password: Invalid username or password ------- Can you tell me exactly what credentials it's looking for and where do I find/get/change them?? I already of course have my correct credentials for the admin portal and can create servers nodes etc. The credentials for that site do not work here. Neither do my node ID and note password work here. If you could please point me in the right direction that'd be awesome!! I've pretty sure I'm obviously missing something here! I probably need to just read the directions 10 more times. In order to configure your server to allow the Portal to generate configuration files for the server, you first must download a local configuration shell script and execute it.
