As many of you know, I was in Dayton for the Hamfest. Because of my physical requirements the only way to get there and back was to drive. Needless to say, it was a long, miserable drive and it took a LOT out of me. I got back yesterday at about noon, and spent the ENTIRE day in bed. After an entire day of rest, I feel awful, which is MUCH MUCH better then I did before all of the rest. Needless to say it will probably take a few days to get back to feeling "normal". :-) I hadnt even had time to check emails, do Allstar validations or anything else in the past few days. Sorry, I will try to "catch up" will all this stuff today. Dayton was massively cool. I had a chance to meet a lot of people, some of which I had been talking to for a long time, and some I had never met before. It was a great experience all around. The amazingly good food at Berkey's across the street from the arena certainly didnt hurt either :-). If in the next day or so, there was something I didnt respond to, please remond me, as I am POSITIVE that I will miss some stuff. The amount of stuff is overwhelming. Thanks Jim WB6NIL

Node Issue

Xipar question

I have an acid node set up and working, Node 27620, I am thinking of playing with Xipar on a different computer, what steps do I need to take so that I do not get myself in trouble? Thanks Jim wd0ekr

Two servers? Multi Node problems

I currently have a server with a node setup as a Hub (28054). I tried to add a couple more node numbers to the server for future RTCM boxes. The new node numbers are setup with a HUB (no radio) node type / no radio interface. I am having a problem. If I try to connect the added node numbers to the hub node, it fails. If I connect to any other node outside this server, it connects fine. I have made all the possible changes to the config files. I even went as far as using the online system to create new config files. Both have the same result. Been racking my brain out on this one for a couple days. I just get a 'rpt/connection_failed' . thanx boB - W5EVH

Ought Oh, then maybe I have a fundamental flaw in my topology concept. I want to have one allstar server with 4 nodes on it. a) my IRLP node connected via a URI directly to the IRLP server, this will be allstar node 1 for discussion sakes b) my repeater node connected via an RTCM, this will be allstar node 2 c) my simplex link or remote base connected via a URI, this will be node 3 d) my echolink node connected via chan_echolink, this will be the echolink node number So won't anyone who connects to any of the 1-3 nodes have the same problem, if they then try to cross connect to the echolink node? Actually that will never happen, what is more likely is that someone from the echo side will connect to my echolink node, and then try to cross connect to one of the other nodes. For now, please don't get wrapped up around what should and shouldn't be connected to IRLP… I'll cross that bridge when I get there, I understand the issue(s). I'm just trying to figure out the functions. All of the above, the server, node 1 (IRLP), node 3 (simplex/remote base), and node 4 (echolink) will all reside behind my firewall, Node 2 will be a repeater at a distant location, remoted via the RTCM as a node. So, again, if someone comes in on the echolink node and tries connect to one of my allstar nodes, won't they have the same problem?.... Probably not because, they will be hosted on the local server and iax2 will take care of the routing…. hmm…. So I guess I just need to think about *my* internal to my network needs vs. echolink…. A local repeater club to me has a site which is inaccessible via the internet (too far from the CO in route distance for DSL, and fiber bypassed them...and the cable company wants someone's first born to run a coax up the hill...) but, would still like, on an occasional basis, to join my machines to their net for emcomm practice (I drop off the network I'm usually on due to various reasons when the nets start up there...). So, I'm thinking that a simplex node on my current configuration, with the proper split frequency, might be an/the answer. IOW, it's listening on their transmit, I transmit back to them on their receive. Simple, standard arrangement. FWIW, it's an alinco DR135, so I can derive the COR and PTT nicely from the rear connector, so that shouldn't be a problem. So...thinking about how to build the configuration? Not really clear what the values I should have in usbradio.conf or rpt.conf to enable this. Of course, I'll script the connection/disconnection to sequence dropping off the big net first, joining the simplex to the remote repeater, and reverse, but was just wondering what the proper values were to put in the config files... Grateful for any guidance. I know this seems like a basic question, but, for some reason I've a processing block on this right now... tnx 73 Bryan WB0YLE

adding a SIP client to the allstarlink box

Hello all.. I have been trying to set up an SIP connection from my droid to the allstar box to access the repeater. I have followed some instruction's i have found here and have gotton it to the point where it will connect but the it gvies me some sip error after a few approx 1 min and disconnects. and even if i change it from PV ( PV doesnt' work either as i can here myself on my HT) to P i am unable to key up the machine. Hmm, well what do you know… maybe it propogation delay, etc…. So how do you connect your Allstar node to your Echolink node - when you are behind a firewall. For example. my external ip address is 24.xx.xx.xx (a public address to the internet world). my allstar server which has my echolink node on it, it on a private address of 192.168.xx.xx. There is a Nat between the 2. When I try to connect my allstar node on the same server to my echolink node, I get a connection failed because it tried to connect to the 24.xx.xx.xx address which it can't see. I'll go see if my router has the ability to spoof that address as some do. I can't believe I'm the only one that might have experienced this problem. Just curious how others have remedied it. Alan
