Hi Guys, I'm running a Simplex node, and am having trouble getting a courtesy tone when the station on the link unkeys. Everything appears to be set right in rpt.conf, but it doesn't happen. However, if I alter duplex=0 to duplex=1, it will give a courtesy tone after link unkey, and after local unkey - but the tones seem to get stuck in a loop, and I get about 8 pips in a row! I appreciate that running in duplex mode on a simplex link is far from ideal. Is it a limitation of app_rpt that courtesy tones only work with a duplex (ie repeater) setup? Any advice appreciated! I have an Alix 3d3 board which is currently gathering dust. I'm looking at rebuilding my systems over the several months. Talking to a few people, I am led to believe that this board will run AllStar. Choice of OS isn't an issue, I'm happy to reinstall from scratch, though the installation medium could be an issue (I don't have a USB CD/DVD drive). Bogus SIP registrations

All-- While diagnosing another problem (which I will post about in a little bit if I can't get it figured out, but I wanted to keep separate threads separate) -- suddenly somebody started sending me a ton of bogus SIP registrations. The source-IP is 210.73.202.76 for whatever that may be worth. I thought about firewalling it, but I don't think SIP is required at all for app_rpt to work? So I disabled chan_sip entirely in modules.conf. Just throwing it out there as something to consider for other app_rpt nodes... I don't know of any security flaws in chan_sip, but I figured since it isn't being used there's no reason to run it. -Matt-

RTCM Audio

Hello, I have a repeater with an allstar server and 2 remote RTCM nodes connected, the audio back to the repater is fine however the audio back out to each RTCM Node is a bit low, is there an adjustment in each RTCM that needs adjustment???? Frank

All, I have searched the archives and understand that the issue with the ARM platforms is that they don't have enough "juice" to do the DSP processing. Has anybody made any progress in compiling them for use with the simpleusb interface type? If so, please let me know. Thanks! Robert N5QM

Hello Monty, While not specific to the remote operation, I see one thing that might make app_rpt lose it's mind. The rxchannel parameter is very picky about syntax, especially the upper and lower case letters. The correct format is: rxchannel=SimpleUSB/usb1010 Another thing I've learned is to never (NEVER) have usbradio.conf and simpleusb.conf exist in /etc/asterisk at the same time. The after power cycle three or four commands and will not steer again. I have tried the same computer with a VHF Syntor with an xcat and will accept every command without issue. Also one of my 707s now lives on a Quad PCI card and steers with every command without issue. Has anyone else seen this or know the remedy? rpt.conf - Remote base/two nodes

I don't think I dreamt this, but cannot find anything on it, and the PC that was running app_rpt crawled up and died...but I remember a dual node config allowing separate telemetry, commands, etc for each node number in the rpt.conf file. I just have gone thru the SVN nooks and crannies, gone back over revisions in app_rpt back to 2009, and see no reference to it. Am I imagining this, if not can someone either point me to a sample file? I wanted to get my remote base back on. George W2DB 2360

Vince, yes it will work. That's exactly what my current situation is. My PC died and I stick my hard drive onto a USB to IDE adapter and running from an HP Thin Client.
