Linode asterisk installation failed..

Interfacing Radios (Vertex)

Steve, I've use a VX-2000 as a node radio. I don't know how close they are, lets hope close. If I remember, the Discriminator can be brought out to the DB-9 by moving a zero ohm resistor on the board. You will have to get a copy of the service manual to verify. I also remember using AF Mute as the COS / CTCSS signal. If you program the radio as CTCSS, AF Mute should track this. No info on the VRX-9000, sorry. Hope this helps. 73, Steve N4IRS > Good Day! Ferrites and grounding

On installations I've seen RF do funny things. I've also read on here about people installing ferrites on the USB cable. What kind of ferrites are people using? I thought you had to get a certain mix or type as all ferrites are not created equal. Are there any additional things people are doing with grounding or ferrites and if so could you share on here? Interfacing Radios

Good Day! I am looking for proven working interface wiring and signal trimming to interface a single URIx to two different radios. I need to interface a cross-band repeater to a URIx. [I have two URIx's. If fully connection two radios has advantages or is easier please explain.] The receiver side is a Yaesu/Vertex VX 2100. I don't see a discriminator out, so maybe just AF Out on pin 2. I don't see a PL/CTCSS/COR/COS out, so manipulation of the RSSI on pin 5, maybe? It looks like you can program some output general purpose pins on the radio, but I have not found a list of those capabilities. Would appreciate interconnect information from anyone using this radio with an URIx. The transmitter side is a Yeasu/Vertex VXR-9000. It has AF input on pin 3 and PL input on pin 4. AllStar Node / repeater radios

Steve, Yes, I have done some repairs / mods on the Tait T800 series 1 modules. I did not know Tait took that stance on narrow band only. Well my personal experience with a baofeng node is really good audio reports, and sometimes better than my motorola SM-50 discriminator audio. I just use the internal tone decoder in those baofeng radios for COR. Would they not be suitable for DSTAR though?
