What exactly is a node in AllStarLink

Could someone help me get a better idea of the concept of what a node is in asterisk/app_rpt/all star terminology. I have a computer with 4 radio ports, an fxo port, an fxs port, and an Internet connection which allows connection to any number of endpoints over sip or iax. Now what is a node? I’d like to be able via DTMF to bring one or more radios on and off link. Some of my understanding that needs to happen here is how AllStarLink is architected but also relating concepts to what I know and am familiar with which is a network of linked remotes (anyone here a cactus member or at least familiar with how a srs controller is architected as an 8x8 full duplex audio switch matrix. ) where a remote may have up to 8 radios and each of those can be linked or unlinked individually to any one or more of the other 8. Finally, how does AllStarLink prevent loops in routing? I know this seems odd at first glance but I can easily foresee audio from one source being linked to multiple places and those sources being mixed and linked back in a twisted mess. Please help me to understand Af6ep Sent using SMTP.

I was following the Subject on Registration Refused messages and had this question. Would the nodes list of valid nodes or lack of cause this kind of error also? Node can connect to me every time but if I try and connect to Node I get connect failed every time. Sounds like port fwd issues? I can connect to everyone else that is registered. From what I know we are both registered in the system. This has been happening awhile and never figured it out. How to clone SD card for R Pi

Looking for an easy method of duplicating an SD card. I tried win32 disk imager method, but it did not seem to do the trick. Might be that I am doing something wrong. If there is perhaps another program or tips someone can pass along, I’d appreciate it. Lu Vencl KA4EPS

I was able to connect to multiple nodes while receiving the “registration refused” message. I changed my password to something incorrect, and connected just now. Registration Refused messages

I’m in the process of setting up my first node, and I’m getting a constant stream of ‘Registration Refused’ messages in the console. The node does appear to be registered, and can connect to other nodes. A search of the mailing list archives turned up a report of this happening last year, but I couldn’t find a fix. Thank you for your reply. The problem I am having is that the TS-2000 station radio does not have PL decode available on the accessory output. Accordingly, it can not be readily used as a repeater control station. It is great as an HF remote station. I am trying to come up with a way to use the DSP feature of the USBRadio module to accomplish selectable PL decode. As far as I can tell, there are three solutions: 1: Use SimpleUSB and do a hardware hack on the TS-2000 to bring out PL decode to the accessory connector. But then how do I make SimpleUSB ignore the CTCSS input line on the URIx as needed? 2: Use USBRadio (instead of SimpleUSB) to perform the decode using its DSP. This is the least intrusive, but this is the question: is there a way to disable or change the frequency of the DSP PL tone frequency on the fly??? 3: Use Hamlib (which I am using to control the radio anyway) and poll for valid PL decode. Use this to put the Allstar system into receive (instead of the CTCSS line on the URIx). This sounds like the best way to me, but I am not sure how to tell Asterisk to go into receive. So the question can be distilled thusly: How can I push a command from the shell into Asterisk to emulate what the URIx does when it receives a valid PL decode??? Thanks again for any replies. Remote Control of PL Decode Frequency in USBRadio

Hello to the group, I am trying to find a way to remotely control PL decode in a Kenwood TS-2000 configured as a remote base. The problem is that the ACCESSORY 2 connector on the TS-2000 does not expose PL decode - just COR. and the COR goes active any time there is a carrier, even if CTCSS decode is enabled. All the CTCSS feature does is mute the speaker. It has no effect on the COR line. So I thought I could use the usbradio module to accomplish this, but it only makes sense if I can remotely change the PL decode frequency, and disable it. That way it could be used as a frequency agile repeater control station as well as an HF station. I was thinking I could modify the usbradio configuration file text and restart asterisk, but that does not seem very elegant. I have written a Java class that runs on the Hamvoip RPi box, and it works very well as an interface between DTMF from the extensions module and Hamlib's rigctl on the Bash shell. (I can't get rigctld to work, but that is a different issue I will ask for assistance on once I have this working.) I just need to figure out a clean way to change PL decode frequencies in usbradio - basically from the command line. Thanks in advance for your assistance. John R. my nodes don't give the double beep when i try cop 36 or 37 i even tried rpt cmd 41546 cop 37 xxx from asterisk cli nothing i set telemdynamic = 1 in rpt.conf did rpt reload still nothing anyone know what's wrong jimmy ka3vgm thanks

I have an odd issue with node 46387 which is my portable simplex "Grab & Go" Raspberry Pi Server based node. It worked all summer long while I was running around doing wildfire comm support, used both my cellphone hotspot and over Satellite links. Got it out to use in the shack the other day and it won't dial out (or in)! Set it up on the same LAN that I have another server behind and that it worked on last year. Have no problems with the other two nodes on the other server on that LAN (*45882 <http://stats.allstarlink.org/nodeinfo.cgi?node=45882> & 45685 <http://stats.allstarlink.org/nodeinfo.cgi?node=45685>)* and have a unique port forwarded thru the Router for its Receive but no soap... Shows up on the AllStarLink site as active and can see keyups. One odd symptom is that when monitoring in the Asterisk CLI it indicates that Asterisk is truncating any node numbers that I dial to a four digit ID... i.e. I dial *312345 The CLI shows *31234 and will not accept the fifth digit. It is not a DTMF decode issue as if I dial a nonsense code like *512345678 The CLI shows all the digits...??!! The voice telemetry all works fine and the response even for a four digit node ID (like *32560) is a long (15-20 second) pause then "Node XXXX Failed to connect." Been digging thru all the .conf files and comparing to my other nodes, No obvious (To me.) differences. Oh and Yes I've done a full update and I can ping 8.8.8.8 and Google.com with success.
