USB fob choppy/stuttering audio

Good morning all, I'm trying to set up an AllStar node using a USB fob based on the CM119 chip. I'm having issues with choppy/stuttering audio, particularly on telemetry. It's bad enough that it renders the CW ID meaningless. My original thought was lack of CPU power, but I have tried it on a Raspberry Pi 2, Pi 3, and several virtual machines on a quad-core PC with identical results. Also, the choppiness is NOT as bad when using the full USB driver instead of SimpleUSB, which I believe conclusively rules out CPU power. I've also tried a powered USB hub, thinking that the USB device was not receiving enough power, with no improvement. I've used the Android mobile app to connect to the node, and the telemetry does not seem to be choppy when listening to it over the app. While I need to do some more testing to say this conclusively, I do believe at this point that my issue is narrowed down to the USB fob itself and/or the specific audio stream being sent to the device. I'm currently searching for a way to alter the sample rate that ASL is sending the audio to the device in. Has anyone experienced this, and does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks and 73, Rob, WX1N

Connection fail message

Running into a connection fail every time I *3 a node. I tried multiple nodes with the same connection fail outcome. I read through literature on the issue, did as stated with no luck. I logged into my Supermon and my system is responding to the prompts as well as showing my Ptt-detected. Note if you look on Allstar it will show my node number in green BUT not highlighted in green, when you click on it you’ll see activity which of course is whatever activity I’m doing trying to figure this out. If anyone knows who and where the app_rpt-drupal site contact info person is, so that I might capture ,save and display that app_rpt info till it can be captured in the allstar wiki, please let me know. This would be a tremendous loss if it were to disappear as it seems to have done. It contains some of the only documentation that exists for some functions. ...mike/kb8jnm

Delay before transmit

I've been trying to locate the "Hold Off" delay timer. I don't know that is what it is called but I need to insert a 50 to 200 ms delay between the time the PTT is activated and the audio is delivered to allow the USB sound card to settle down and play nicely. Any thoughts? Ray D. Congdon - KL7UT

Downloaded ASL.. Went through the first time set up... toggled thru the rest of the set ups, entered items as needed, I can winscp in from another computer, and I believe I have the correct UDP ports open on the modem to operate outside of the box. and I am still struck going now where.. again. Won't do anything.. this shouldn't be this complicated? I have node 47379, on a Pi 2, rim-lite to the rc210. (also have a URIxB available but not connected) I found IRLP to easier to work with than this... need help! before i go nutty! this has been a 3 sunday project.. Step by step instructions suck ! Found out what to root problem was for Auto-congesting call due to slow, failing connection. It was a little simpler than a link or tail a file. It turns out he was using a NON-standard BINDPORT I /we should have seen that when I did a; 28523*CLI> rpt lookup <NODE> Node: 28523, Method: DNS, Actual: DNS, Data: radio@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1000/NODExxx.xxx.xxx.xxx He changed the BINDPORT in rpt.conf and now have no trouble connecting anymore. What could I have possibly done wrong? Help please

Hi all I have installed Image Version 1.5rc50on a Raspi 3 and follow the instructions menu to set it. I am using a sound FOB card and VOX as Simplex. I also installed Echolink. I am unable to access my node via a VHF handheld. On Supermon, the PTT remains idle. Connecting to other Nodes and monitoring works fine, the transmission is repeated here on my local VHF frequency. New setup - connecting to WiFi

I have just written a fresh image (ASL_1.01-20180228...) from allstarlink.org to a Raspberry Pi 3. It boots ok, and now I need to get it connected to WiFi. I am digging thru docs and how-to pages on allstarlink.org and so far, no luck. I’ve gone thru the first time setup in asl-menu, but I can’t figure out how to get a list of WiFi SSIDs to choose from, etc. I am not Linux-savvy but comfortable poking around as needed. How can I get connected to WiFi? Thanks

finally got it all to work

I just realized that from the original distro I had the simpleusb module. So just enabled it and changed the rpt.conf back to simpleusb and it works.
