asl source code
by Tom 22 Nov '18

22 Nov '18

I just setup an ASL image for the Stretch distro. I have been running DIAL for some time with good results. I delayed making this upgrade because I have quite a few of my own tweaks and tools installed. It has been easier to just clone my image for new nodes. Part of what I've been doing requires edits to app_rpt.c and recompiling. This has always been easy to do through the from the earlier CentOS through the DIAL releases. When I looked for the directory with source code, I was surprised to not find it. Is there a detailed "how to" documented step by step procedure posted somewhere on installing source and make/recompile files? I don't want to break what I now have working with the new ASL. Thanks, Tom / K5TRA

Audio Delay During Duplex SimpleUSB
by Ed Wilhelm 19 Nov '18

19 Nov '18

Been running SimleUSB on my repeater for sometime. All works well except for the variable audio delay, sometimes will hear the end of my own transmission. Know this issue has been around for awile. Someone said try USBRadio, but would think that would use even more processing and agrevate the situation. This is running latest version of ASL on a Raspberry Pi2. Any input appreciated. Ed W8VT

Node Resistration
by Jeff Lehman 19 Nov '18

19 Nov '18

HI Bryan etc al, Can someone check the registration of my nodes. I swapped out routers last night (the old one bit the dust) and I can connect to some nodes and not others....I am 99% sure that I have the ports forwarded properly so I am not sure what is going on. 47124 and 47194 are my node numbers. Thanks much! Node information display
by José Roberto Ruíz García Salas TG9AOR 18 Nov '18

18 Nov '18

Hello to all. I would like to know in what file resides the information pertaining to the node frequency, CTCSS, etc. I have noticed some nodes on the stats page display bridging information on the frequency field, I would like to update my node to reflect that. Also, is there a way to input this information for the private nodes as well? 73 José Roberto Ruíz García Salas TG9AOR

New allstarlink.org will not have download configs
by Tim Sawyer 17 Nov '18

17 Nov '18

The new allstarlink.org site is nearly complete. While there is much to tell you about the new site, there is one feature that will not be there. The new site will not have the capability to download configs to your node. This feature has long outlived its usefulness and there are better options these days. One option to consider is upgrading your node. Current nodes have a menu system providing capabilities beyond the old config download. Of course there are the built in editors such as nano and vi. Another option is to use a tool like WinSCP. It is important to note that only the ability to configure your node from the website will be lost. Your node will still work normally after the new site rollout, and other methods of configuration are not affected. Although we do not have a date for the rollover to the new web site, we are taking this opportunity to inform you of the coming change. You may preview the new site at web-tpa.allstarlink.org -- Tim WD6AWP

Autopatch
by Jeff Lehman 16 Nov '18

16 Nov '18

So since I am on a roll today, here's another to Chew on. I have Incredible PBX setup on a Pi here. I use it (at least till Google shut off the GVSIP service today) for my home phone as well as Allstar and Hamshack Hotline (See hamshackhotline.com for more info). I want to make one of my allstar nodes dial out through my PBX.....Incredible PBX is based on FreePBX and Asterisk sooo... I have calling from the PBX to ASL working fine. I can dial an extension from any of my phones and it connects to my ASL nodes. I am stumped on From ASL to PBX. Here is what I have done..... I followed the Directions on this page: http://docs.allstarlink.org/drupal/node/133 So first I went into Rpt.conf and set those settings. I used "pstn-out"for the context in Rpt.conf for the autopatch. Next I went into extensions.conf and set the following in pstn-out: [pstn-out] exten => _XXX,1,Dial,SIP/pbx-autopatch/${Exten} exten => _XXX,2, congestion Note that XXX is for internal extensions. I use 3 digit extensions internally for phones. Next I went to sip.conf and set up the following stanza: [pbx-autopatch] type=peer allowguest=yes nat=yes autocreatepeer=yes insecure=port, invite auth=md5 username=<the username for the extension i want it to dial out on> password=nunya host=<internal IP address for the PBX with port number> qualify=no disallow=all allow=ulaw allowexternaldomains=yes context=pstn-out When I dial *61 + internal extension (203 for example) it waits a few seconds then gives me fast busy When I watch on the asterisk CLI it tries to connect is not able to connect and at one point says "no such host: pbx-autopatch" (I would paste the log but I am not home to be able to copy and paste) Any initial thoughts? I've been playing with asterisk/freePBX/allstar for a little over a year now and I am confident with it, but this one has me stumped now...And it's tough to find documentation on this. or I am other thinking this and not able to wrap my head around it. Thanks much for letting me ramble. RX Only Mode Via DTMF Command
by Jeff Lehman 16 Nov '18

16 Nov '18

Hi All, I have a feeling I will facepalm myself for this one. I want to be able to connect a link in RX only mode (NOT local monitor) via a macro, but I cannot for the life of me find the command or COP functions to do it. I know it is possible in Allmon, but I need to be able to do it in a macro. Local monitor won't work for the application I need it for. I have my echolink connection setup on a private node on my system so that I can connect it to any of my nodes that I need it for. There are times where I need to connect it to a node in RX only mode. Local monitor wont't let audio move from the bridge node to the main node. Source for Weather scripts for X86 ASL 1.1
by edbathgate＠zoominternet.net 14 Nov '18

14 Nov '18

Hi All, I am looking for weather scripts for the X86 version of ASL Debian Stretch. I have had success in getting it to speak the .ulaw files and say some rather surprising things, but curious to see other's efforts of weather status, forecast, and alert scripts before I reinvent the wheel. Thanks 73 Ed N3SDO
