Friday Night 220 MHz (mostly) Net
by Kevin Tubbs (KD2SL) 14 Dec '18

14 Dec '18

This is your invitation to have your repeater join a regular Friday night net, focusing (mostly) on 220 MHz. It originates from the 224.12 repeater in Syracuse, AllStar node 28405, and is joined by approximately 20 other (mostly) 220 MHz repeaters in various parts of the country. It is mostly a "say hello" net and doesn't usually get very technical. We would enjoy having you link up and hearing about the state of 220 MHz repeaters in your area. It gives us a good opportunity to refine our AllStar setups and test them for audio quality, etc., and just have some fun using AllStar. Although the focus is 220 machines, we know that repeaters on other bands often come along for the ride, and that's fine. Please feel free to join us each Friday night, at 7:00 pm EST, by connecting to 28405, or 47463. We're usually done within the hour. 73 - Kevin KD2SL

Net Install Problem
by Gary Bonebrake 09 Dec '18

09 Dec '18

Greetings, After several years of successful Asterisk repeater operation using Centos (node 27610), I have decided to move into the 21st century and update to Debian/Allstar/Asterisk. Sounded like a great project to attack over the holidays. I dug up an identical HP dc5100 PC, same as current repeater controller, for the new system. It has one CDROM drive and many USB ports. The install .ISO file on the AllstarLink website is too big for a CD, so I created a bootable thumbdrive and forced my PC to boot from that. After the install completes and shuts down, I remove the thumbdrive and restart the PC. It comes up with the repeater prompt, but does not continue the installation of Asterisk. There exists no "asterisk.sh". I would appreciate guidance on how to proceed. BTW, the user "repeater" has no privileges and unknown password ("allstarlink" does not work). Thanks Gary W5BI

Icom FR 5000 repeater - URI - Alllstarlink node
by Lardizabal David D. 09 Dec '18

Hi My name is David Lardizabal HQ2DDL. I am trying to install and AllstarLink node with a repeater Icom FR 5000 and I am trying to figure out the pinout / setting on repeater. If anyone has done this setup would appreciate the help. I have all ready have done some testing but I am getting a lot of noice, like the squelch is open and transmitting to connected node, ( I am able to connect to other nodes via line command, I have not been able to get the DTMF tones to work to connect/disconnect to nodes.) My current pin out is like this: FR 5000 Repeater DML URI 7 GND =================> 20 GND 8 MOD IN =================> 22 TX AUDIO 9 DISC OUT ================> 21 RX AUDIO 14 GND =================> 19 GND 19 PTT =================> 1 PTT 22 AF OUT =================> 8 COR DET (?) *** as a Note: I found out in a pin out for RTCM with an ICOM FR6000 repeater; I recently connected a Micro-Node RTCM to an ICOM FR6000 UHF repeater. The FR5000/6000 has a DB25 auxiliary connector on the rear. Here is the sable pin-out I used. Maybe this helps someone else. FR6000 RTCM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Pin 11 - 12VDC Out ------------------ Pin 1 +V In Pin 8 - MOD IN ------------------------- Pin 2 TX Audio Pin 9 Discriminator ------------------- Pin 3 RX Audio Pin 21 Analog Audible Out -------- Pin 4 CTCSS In Pin 14 GND------------------------------ Pin 5 GND Pin 19 EPTT ---------------------------- Pin 7 PTT DB25 Shell --- soldered to braid---DB9 Shell Programming FR6000. Configured for CTCSS on Receive, no CTCSS on transmit. Program Pin 21 I/O for Audible Out which is a signal indication when the receiver is unmuted by squelch/tone. Program Pin 19 I/O for EPTT - External PTT 73 David

If the claim that the hamvoip version offers so much is true, then why not share the code improvements with the community as open source, in keeping with Jim Dixon's vision?? I don't understand why there are two different versions of asterisk witch is: - ArchLinux: Asterisk 1.4.23-pre.hamvoip-V1.5.3-48-app_rpt-0.327-11/24/2018 - Debian: Asterisk GIT Version 004b9dd Can you give me some points? John David and his company have taken the open source Allstar and Linux code, closed sourced it, and distribute it in violation of the copyright. I would encourage all users to use the open source version of Allstar Asterisk as there's no telling what nefarious things may be hidden in the infringing software put out by those who would claim others work as their own and steal from the community. The real version of Allstar can be found here for both the x86 and ARM architectures can be downloaded here: https://wiki.allstarlink.org/wiki/Main_Page#Downloads The source can be found on github and you can compile it yourself if you choose. https://github.com/AllStarLink/ 73's -- Bryan Fields 727-409-1194 - Voice http://bryanfields.net ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Wed, 5 Dec 2018 22:33:30 +0100 From: Marco Brunozzi <marco.brunozzi(a)gmail.com> To: app_rpt-users(a)lists.allstarlink.org Subject: Re: [App_rpt-users] asterisk version Message-ID: <CACTXTUQz2pwy=4GOYXtvnX1VysduLAXnHrbt7L2=iuoWGrJZFw(a)mail.gmail.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Hi Bryan, thanks for the answer, I'll try it. 73 Marco IW0RED On Wed, Dec 5, 2018 at 10:28 PM Bryan Fields <Bryan(a)bryanfields.net> wrote: > > On 12/5/18 4:15 PM, Marco Brunozzi wrote: > > I don't understand why there are two different versions of asterisk witch is: > > - ArchLinux: Asterisk > > 1.4.23-pre.hamvoip-V1.5.3-48-app_rpt-0.327-11/24/2018 > > - Debian: Asterisk GIT Version 004b9dd > > Yes, the hamvoip version is a version made by a criminal software > pirate known as John David McGough. I"ve seen this a lot with Windows 10 machines. Not necessarily with IAXRPT, but with various digital programs (e.g. FLDigi, etc.) that use the soundcard. Sometimes Windows 10 has a mind of it's own. There used to be a utilty that would reset your souncard based on the program you wanted to run, but it's long deprecated and will not function on Windows 10.
