DMK URI and Baofeng Radios

Hello, I am looking to set up my first Allstar node and I'm going to use either a Baofeng UV-5R or UV-82 HT for the radio. I plan to interface this to the node with a DMK Engineering URI (http://dmkeng.com/URI_Order_Page.htm) I have yet to order. Does anyone here have experience with interfacing Baofeng HTs to the DMK URI and have any tips on how to secure the connection and anything else I should know? I am also interested in Echolink so a product that would be compatible with Echolink would be my best choice. Any other suggestions for radio interfaces would be welcome as well. I have looked into Advanced Repeater Systems' products as well (http://arsrepeaters.com/USB_AllStar_Adapters.php) and they look excellent, however, I would prefer the versatility of something like the URI for when I upgrade the radio on the node. It looks like the ARS product only interfaces to a certain radio but the URI will interface to anything (give you know the pinouts on your radio, etc). So all in all, I am getting started and have yet to choose an interface. I have the Baofeng radio chosen as my starter radio, everything else is open to suggestions! Thanks Adam KL3TX

Control of URI GPIO pins

I know, I know, I'm sure it's in some manual somewhere, but I get frustrated when i can't find something within 15min. What are the commands to turn on and off the GPIO lines on the DMK URI? Better yet, "teach me how to fish" and point me to the location of a "detailed" explanation of the use of them? VLAN Connections

We are working as fast as we can to deploy. But obstacles have been unavoidable. Nonetheless, our site vendor has offered us the ability to use his site-to-site microwave link and a VLAN. We intend on using the RTCM for voti9ng and simulcast. Our Motorola MSF 5000's have the GPS modules already. Does each RTCM require a unique IP or can it be referenced by a port number? Our control computer will be housed in my data center in Irvine and we need a gateway out of the VLAN to get to the control server. I am thinking in terms of IRLP and I understand there are mostly differences. But I want a private connection between our sites but I also want to create a conference channel so that others might benefit. How much bandwidth does each RTCM require? Thank you and Happy New Year!
