Remote Serial Access

I have a node at a site along with a controller. I would like to access the controller via serial to update as needed. Is it possible to connect the AllStar nodes serial port to the controller and access it via SSH tunnel? I tried googleing it but could not find the answer I was looking for. Any setup instructions anywhere? How to adjust audio, etc? Am I to assume you use the on board sound and that L and R are the 2 radios, same with input? I've got in stall installed, just now need to do some setup and without it in front of me was curious if it was documented anywhere. Alan
