Jeese... Always something simple. I had a "+" in my portal password and that does not work at the node/servers. OK I've obviously lost it here :-) But please help: I am trying to bring up a new box (ACID) on a PC and attempting my first ever configuration via portal ever. Thought I'd try this for fun all my others have been manual config and that was 6 months ago. I'm trying to get a feel and familiarity with the new system. Which so far looks absolutely awasome!! wow a LOT of work as gone on while I was away! Of course I have alreadey setup a server and a node and the node is *not* set for manual configuration. When I try to run the Allstar Portal Node Setup Script I am being told quite plainly that I'm suplying incorrect credentials. ------ Enter your Allstar Portal user id: n8lbv Enter your Allstar Portal password: Invalid username or password ------- Can you tell me exactly what credentials it's looking for and where do I find/get/change them?? I already of course have my correct credentials for the admin portal and can create servers nodes etc. The credentials for that site do not work here. Neither do my node ID and note password work here. If you could please point me in the right direction that'd be awesome!! I've pretty sure I'm obviously missing something here! In order to configure your server to allow the Portal to generate configuration files for the server, you first must download a local configuration shell script and execute it. New version of NodeShark available

All, I have posted v0.96 of NodeShark at http://www.arizuni.com/NodeShark This version fixes a class of problems related to incorrect first-time configuration of NodeShark preferences. It also fixes an issue I discovered recently when I noted that I had received an AllStar node LINK that was identified in the log with the callsign instead of the AllStar node number. With v0.95 and below, such a LINK will not be displayed using either the "All Links" or "Allstar Links" display filters. The record would be displayed only if the "All Records" filter was used and even then was mis-formatted. I haven't had time to chase down under what circumstances the LINK is identified by callsign (perhaps IAXRPT?). In any case, I have added logic in my log parsing routines to catch this and handle it properly. Perhaps Jim Dixon knows of a change to app_rpt in the last few months that yields this sort of LINK record? The new version can be unzipped right on top of the previous version and won't affect your current configuration. If any of you have been frustrated by trying to get NodeShark running initially, this latest version should make it much easier as it's less demanding of a correct initial try at setting up your preferences. This version still only supports single or multi nodes within a single site (system). Next version I plan to add support for multi-site (in essence, multiple configurations). Kudos on Beagleboard pickle linux

Kudos to the person or persons responsible for Beagleboard pickle linux: it booted right up like a champ. dd'ing an image to the sd card is *SO* much easier than the hellish procedure for creating bootable media on the beagleboard web site... thanks very much for doing this. (Of course, I have yet to do anything with it, other than watch it boot, but still, it's a very positive step!) Thanks! Phil, N6TCT

Node link on non-standard port

Got two nodes. Originally setup using standard port 4569. Changed ports to 4568 1) to see how it was done & 2) to separate the asterisk machines and set up home phone system (again). Ports changed and connects to Allstar OK. iaxRPT works by adding port to IP address. So far no problem. N0MIJ tries to connect via his Allstar node (also on non-standard port 4568) and he says the CLI show it trying to connect via the 4569 port. Q: have we missed something in changing ports? If so where and what? Q: the file which Allstar update: 1) can it be forced to update w/o restarting node? 2) are ports given in the updated file? 3) what file is it? so we can check/verify. Squelch Tail

Hi, I am a newcomer to Allstar and have just set up my node this week. I had a few wrinkles that I was able to iron out in time by reading the archives, but I haven't been able to fix the following problem. My node has a squelch tail that won't go away and seems to cycle constantly once it gets going. I'm using a URI to a Kenwood TM-D700a and my node is in simplex mode.
