How to update...?
by Mark Cheavens 15 Jun '09

I have the latest version of ACID installed on 6+ nodes. I know that the astupd.sh script will at some time update the app_rpt and irlp/echolink channels, but in a step by step how would one get the latest builds (Bleeding edge) installed and built? Mark KC5EVE

Re: [App_rpt-users] Possible source for CM108-based sound dongles

Ok, so I ordered one of these USB sound fobs from DealExtreme, opened it up, and it's hard to read the chip but it appears to say CM108 on it. Just to make sure, those of you that have one can compare the results of "lsusb" to what I got. Bus 004 Device 003: ID 0d8c:000c C-Media Electronics, Inc. Audio Adapter The downside of this fob is that the chip is on the bottom side. So making a connection to pin 13 may be easy, but getting it to a wire bundle on the top side may be hard. If you remove the audio jacks, it does leave 2 small holes from each one in the board (not from a solder point) that you may be able to router a small wire through. They're all small wires anyway right? As for the pin 48, I haven't tested the connections, but since pin 48 is Volume Down, according to the datasheet, and there is a volume down button it should be easy to just solder to the button connection instead of the chip. So basically I think this sound fob would work great for modification as long as you intend on removing at least the mic jack. I personally like leaving the speaker jack just for testing/monitoring. Jeff WQEX694 KB1SPH (Yes, I finally took my ham test and passed on the 5th!) P.S. This is probably a dumb question and the wrong place to ask, but does anybody know if you can connect to IRLP over the internet if you don't have a local repeater that's connected? ----- Original Message ----- From: <app_rpt-users-request(a)qrvc.com> To: <app_rpt-users(a)qrvc.com> Sent: Thursday, June 04, 2009 12:00 PM Subject: App_rpt-users Digest, Vol 4, Issue 4 > Send App_rpt-users mailing list submissions to > app_rpt-users(a)qrvc.com > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > http://qrvc.com/mailman/listinfo/app_rpt-users > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > app_rpt-users-request(a)qrvc.com > > You can reach the person managing the list at > app_rpt-users-owner(a)qrvc.com > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of App_rpt-users digest..." > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. Calling a shell script via DTMF
by Matt Beasant 12 Jun '09

12 Jun '09

Hi all, I'm wondering what the syntax is to call a shell script from a DTMF command in app_rpt - or even if this is possible? What I'm trying to do is a variation on the method described by Steve earlier to inhibit incoming calls. What I intend to to is this: When the user keys a specific DTMF code, have a script run which renames IRLP.conf as somethingelse.conf ad then restart asterisk, so effectively disabling IRLP part of the node. I will do the same with Echolink but with a different code..... I've tried using the dialplan to call some announcements just to see if it worked - it didnt! Here is what I put in my dialplan ( I tried under Default and also Radio-secure stanzas ) exten => *990,1,Answer exten => *990,n,Wait 1 exten => *990,n,Playback,rpt/connected exten => *990,n,Playback,rpt/functioncomplete exten => *990,n,Hangup So, I wonder what I'm doing wrong here - I thought I'd try and get this working before going on to use the *990,n,system(script_directory/script) method. Is it possible to call a system command from rpt.conf instead? Thanks for all your patience! Matt G4RKY

simplex node id
by James Nessen 08 Jun '09

what is the setup necessary to get a simplex node to id like it's a repeater? The simplex node I am testing only id's on first keyup and then doesn't id again until after the time expires and someone else keys up.. What am I missing? How to prevent incoming connections
by Matt Beasant 07 Jun '09

07 Jun '09

Hi, When I play the GB2RS news and ARnewsline audio files over my node, the playback is killed off by an incoming connection. How can I prevent an incoming connection during this time? I thought I could disable the node but of course this kills the Tx completely! Didnt want to do anything as drastic as take down ETH0 if I could help it as the node is on a remote hilltop. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt G4RKY

I ordered one of these, when it arrives I will check it out and let everyone know. Unless of course someone else posts a message about it first.
