Rxondelay in SimpleUsb
by Angelo 04 Aug '18

04 Aug '18

Good morning all, I have been trying to set the rxondelay in the simpleusb to different values. No matter what value I put in, it seems the behavior does not change. I remember reading a while back that function may not be compiled standard release. I am running the new version of ASL. I think the release was in April of this year. Can anyone confirm this? 73 de Angelo

David, Your tip did the trick! Why would an update change the rpt.conf duplex setting to 1 from 2? All other settings stayed the same. Thank you! I can key up the system and it will reply back with the courtesy tone and the required ID every 15 minutes. It just doesn't transmit the audio through when someone trys to call out to another person. I checked the cables and radios and all are up and running and connected fine. I have disconnectged the cables and plugged them back in to test and the same lack of audio occurs. When I plug in the old ham-o-matic, audio comes through. Where should I be looking to check audio settings for the Motorola gm300 radios in the rpt.conf file? Thank you, Greg W2GCM

ASL without OSS

So it's a quick and dirty post but it's all that I had time to do.... Please be sure to read the whole thing including the "CAVEATS" section if you try this at home lol... http://enhanced.github.io/2018/08/ASL_With_ALSA Using the info that I posted at the above URL I have a current kernel running and very clean audio, please note the TO-DO section also.. because the "clean" part is anecdotal. Please let me know if something isn't working for you (or if it is) and we can adjust fire to compensate as needed.. N0PKT Jay

Re: [App_rpt-users] Private Node - Connection Failed - Clarification
by Jim Aspinwall No1PC 27 Jul '18

27 Jul '18

I got private to private worked out... thanks!! Before I get myself in too much more trouble with this... - is it possible for a Public node to also be a private node? Say I have Public node 43039 (I do) and it works connecting to and accepting connections among other Public nodes. One and only one radio interface. Can I also make it a private node, for example 1001, and able to accept or initiate connects with another known private node? Somehow I came to believe this is possible... but it could have been the tacos and creme soda messing with me... Perhaps differently - creating a radio-less 'hub' that could 'bridge' public and private? Only one node can be associated with the 'chan_ ..." interface on the same server - yes? no? I'm trying to reduce the footprint (rack and tower space, power suck, etc.) of a multi-site RF-linked system down to repeater + node at each site. Not every site needs to be publicly addressable/connectable - as you can imagine the feedback mess if someone ignorant the construct started re-connecting different sites together making a gnarly set of loops.

Is this possible? - Using a radio remotely with an IP phone on a private network
by Noah Chalker 26 Jul '18

26 Jul '18

Hello, While it is not ham radio related, the university I attend and work for is considering putting a secondary aviation radio at the sattelite campus of ours where we do flight training. We have a radio at the main campus to talk to our aircraft but the aircraft at our sattelite campus are out of range of the main campus. I thought ROIP (AllStar) would be an effective way to use a radio at the sattelite campus from the main campus. The concept would be like a Remote Communications Outlet (RCO) that is currently used in aviation. I would like to have it so that the radio can be used from the main campus using an IP phone and all ran through the school's network. All this is through a private node of course and not through the all star *network.* Is this possible? Particularly the part with using the IP phone (I don't think it is a good idea to link the two radios). Any suggestions, guidance, and links to documentation on how to do this would be appreciated! 73's Noah KE5VQL
