Ross, Thanks for the reply. I've had this happen to me on two different configurations. The issue here is with the radio interface. One is a simplex UHF application using a Motorola GM300 mobile (although I have also experienced the same problem using GE MVS and GE MLS2). When I receive on an Alinco DJ-596, Wouxun, GE MLS2 or another GM300, I notice that I the first bit of audio is sometimes clipped. If I set any of those radios for carrier squelch (as opposed to CTCSS) the problem is less noticable. It seems to me there might be some brief delay in the receiver decoding the CTCSS. I've looked at the transmitted CTCSS and it is at 500 Hz modulation and a nice clean sine wave. Where I really notice the problem is in a remote base configuation. I'm using a GM300 VHF for this but the issue would happen with any radio. In this application I am using the radio to access a repeater system in the next county. That repeater, when initially keyed from idle, can take as long as 250 mS to begin to pass audio from when it first sees carrier and CTCSS (hey, it was free an it works so I'm not complaining). My hope was to adjust a delay buffer here such that my remote base would transmit but hold audio for 200 ms or so to allow the outbound path to come alive and stabilize before putting out the audio. It's not a big deal and is pretty much "normal" operation, but I figured that a small delay of the audio here would clean things up a bit. 73 DE Thor Operator of N7JCT

DTMF decode

there is a RADIO RELAX flag setting in the include files somewhere, that determines decode sensitivity. The default is to be "relaxed" - or more sensitive. But if yours is not, you might try changing it. Off-the-air tones need to be a few hundred millseconds long to get decoded. 73 Ken

Intermittent DTMF Decode?

Has anyone had problems with the DTMF decoder in Asterisk? The decoder in the node running in VMWare Player is very intermittent. I'm thinking its the VMWare that is messing it up. But I cant be sure. Before I try to use other receivers or put tones directly into the URIx I wanted to check. I've not had problems before with other nodes. Thanks 72 Jim WRY

Permanent Connections

I'm trying to set up a permanent connection to another node to link 2 repeaters at different sites together. My node has macros set up to allow easy connection to other area nodes ie: (Macro 13 = *33353296#) To make things easier for the users, I would like to use the "disconnect all" to disconnect any nodes they may connect to, while still leaving the permanent connection in place. It does not work that way unfortunately, as it drops ALL connections (as the name implies). So here are my questions: Can a "permanent" connection truly be made permanent? And/or I would like to setup a macro to connect to a node, but then have that same macro also disconnect that node if entered again (think toggle on/off). I'm thinking something similar to the rotating ID script I've seen around. Is this a plausible solution? What other ways could I accomplish this? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you! I discovered why the remote base nodes won't work if someone copies/pastes from the guide... Notice how it's backwards... when setting up my remote base and helping Ross KC7RJK set up his remote base, I noticed this typo. Squelch Burst

Spifically, when I use COR from the radio, I have a squelch crash when a user unkeys. If I use squelch=dsp, then the crash is not there. But, the squelch action of the node receiver is not the best. I would really like to use COR but dislike the squelch burst. Is there a way to delay the audio and shut it off before the squelch closes? Like in a audio delay board for a repeater controller? Hi Ken, I occasionally have issues with EZStream taking-up 100% CPU time - I just kill it and it gets re-started by the app_rpt outstream command. No need to re-boot. Try that and see how you fare. David
