Tonight I had a user tell me that one of my nodes wouldn't connect anywhere. Verified, rebooted the server, still nothing. Tried running the rc.updatenodelist script manually and it just sits there. However, after running the following command I do get an update and can now connect to other nodes. /usr/bin/wget -O /var/lib/asterisk/rpt_extnodeshttp://nodes1.allstarlink.org/cgi-bin/nodes.pl When I checked two other nodes they had the same problem and same work-around. I ran that same command for nodes2 and it works. When I run it for nodes3 it times out. Could a problem with nodes3.allstarlink.org be causing the rc.updatenodelist script to choke? And could that have been causing my nodes to not be able to connect to others?

Echo-stink

I've found the 'permit=w1aw,w5yi,etc' line in the echolink.conf only allows for 29 allowed calls. Any more than 30 entries in the list prevents incoming requests on or not on the list access to the node. Short of checking for typo's, using a backslash\ to continue to the next line, or adding another 'permit= line' hasn't proved any results. ???

My experience is exactly what Jim suggests, it kills the Zaptel modules. With the ACID distro what I end up doing is a complete update of the OS then I do a complete update and recompile of the SVN. Basically you: 1) Do all of your OS updates using yum. (Or, I use the tool in Webmin). 2) Update the ACID SVN using these steps: cd /usr/src rm -rf astsrc wget http://x.allstarlink.org/svn-trunk.tar.gz -O- | tar xzv mv trunk astsrc cd astsrc make upgrade-acid 3) Finally update Zaptel with these steps: cd /usr/src/astsrc/zaptel ./configure make make install make config modprobe zaptel service zaptel start service asterisk restart I have no idea if this is the "right" way to do all this. But I do know that it's working for me. "Official" "fixed" DAHDI patches

After much lamenting this morning, I have come up with what I feel comfortable as a "working" DAHDI patch set. This is useful if you are wanting to "roll your own" app_rpt system (perhaps on some non-(Centos 5.X 32 bit) platform). If you take any of the distros of DAHDI 2.5.1 or newer, and apply these patches, it should "work". Howdy Folks, My allstar box has been down for a few months due to not having Internet connection. I got internet back finally and I just fired it up my allstar box today it has my node 29332 and 29265 in it. once it boots up, I get Asterisk end with exit status 1 Asterisk died with code 1 Automatically restarting Asterisk mpg123: no process killed that will keep repeating over and over until I shut the machine off. can someone tell me why this is doing this. the system was running fine before the internet was lost 73 Russ WL7LP

Changing Courtesy Tones, and SSHing into the computer

Hello, I am new ham in high school, and finally got a little SIMPLEX repeater up and running. *My first question* Is about SSHing into the computer remotely. I first gave it a try on my LAN, because I knew port forwarding would not be required. First, I *Changed *the port 222 to port 22 on the SSHD_Config file We are using an apple airport router, which states the LAN address of the Ethernet port is 10.0.1.1. I typed ssh root(a)10.0.1.1, and I got a connection refused. I was able to reverse SSH back to my macintosh using ssh username@computersLANip from ACID, but when I tried to SSH back to acid, it would not work. Just Connection Refused. After I login on ACID it says Root@Skylersnode, my node, and I also gave ssh root@<node number> and ssh skylersnode@local IP a try, but still no success. Are there any suggestions on getting this to work? *Second question: Courtesy tones,* I just figured out how to create a ULAW on audacity, and mount a flash drive on the command, and I am wondering if I can change the courtesy tones or any other audio file. Like the "I OWN COMMAND" annoying thing. Where would the courtesy tones be located, and under what file name? *Third question: *why it wont work on the web transceiver When I dial in the node on the web transceiver, nothing happens, and when I hit the connect button, it does not do anything. Is there any way to get it to work, or will the web transceiver not work with my node. I would think it should work, because I have almost the same setup as Willem's node, 29571<https://allstarlink.org/portal/webtransceiver-frameset.php?nodenum=29571>,on saddle back mountain. *Last Question: Won't connect to 28298 or 28299* This node is part of the FUN system here in Colorado, and I tried dialing 28298, which belongs to Jeff KØJSC, but I heard nothing, not even the change in courtesy tone. He has no idea why my node will not connect up, but it is weird because it won't even show up on the web transceiver. Thanks Skyler KDØWHB

Allmon Control Panel

Allmon can now do pretty much anything that can be done at the Asterisk CLI giving you complete web based control of your nodes. The Allmon Control Panel is a popup window which allows selected commands to be issued through the Asterisk Manager Interface. The command selection is configured with an ini file allowing the Allmon admin set up virtually any AMI command. The included sample ini show you just some of the things you can do. Users must login to see the new Control Panel button. If more than one node is display, select a node from the drop down and them press Control Panel.
